六○年代初，三千多名上海孤兒被大遷徙到內蒙古，琪琪格瑪不顧丈夫的反對領養了珍珍和雨聲。額吉的慈愛善良、草原上古老的勸奶歌，漸漸撫平了孤兒們幼小心靈上的傷痛使他們成為了真正的草原牧人。然而十幾年後，他們親生父母出現了，這些當年的孤兒們會如何做出他們的人生抉擇呢？《額吉》在蒙語裡是母親，蒙古人把草原也叫額吉。

The early 1960's: more than three thousand orphans were transported on a great journey to Inner Mongolia. Despite her husband's opposition, Qiqigema Erji adopts Chen Chen and Yu Sheng. Time goes by, Mongolian culture transform Yu Sheng into an excellent horseman and a true grassland herdsman. However, nearly twenty years later, these orphans of the 1960's face a great life decision.
