阿旺的妻子過世，兒子啟雄從台北返鄉，幫忙父親照顧包子店生意。啟雄志不在此，阿旺卻堅持守住店面。兒子只好為父親請幫手，一位來自越南的女孩進駐包子店，她帶來越南風味，卻也加促一段情感的衝突，兒子與父親間，隱於檯面下的矛盾，正如麵糰般逐漸「發」起來……。兩代觀點審視新移民處境，道地口味，「在地化」新省思。

Summer 1993, Chi Shiung comes back to help in his father’s steamed bun shop as his mother has died. But as he has no intention to take over the business, he suggests his father, Wang, to hire a helper. Here comes a Vietnamese woman. She brings a new flavour to the

traditional buns which triggers Wang’s buried emotions.
